“Song from Children” was inspired by my young friend at the Y on 63rd street in NYC. “Pushing’ 30” is always for my wife Lrraine. When we first started going out she was 26 and told everybody she was “pushin’ 30.” I think we’ll push on the rest of our lives one way or another. “My Baby Came Home to Visit” is for love’s gone away, come back and gone aways again. “Strollin’ Down the Avenue” was inspired by Thelonious Monk. “Sing Sing” is for Paul Bley and Ed Blackwell. “The Sea” is dedicated to Duck Ellington, the great oceanographer, among other things. It was featured in the score to Phil Bertelson’s award winning film, Around the Time. “Still Pushin’ 30”, you can push it from many different directions. “Passing” is a memorial for when big people in our lives pass on. It was written with Sun Ra and my Aunt Annabelle in mind. “Waiting for the Train”, sometimes a good wait is just what you need. – Eli Yamin
